Thrive Services (formerly Blue Mountains Family Support Service Inc) is a not-for-profit family support service located in Katoomba and Lithgow. We offer two specialised programs, Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) program and Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) program, for families with dependent children under 18 years old.

Within these programs, we offer a range of free and voluntary services aimed at supporting families from a strength-based, person-centred approach. Services include family case management support, parenting and family programs, homelessness case management support, practical assistance with material aid and food, community events and group activities.

At Thrive Services, our aim is to build a strong sense of community by providing a welcoming and accepting environment that adapts to the changing needs of families. We celebrate people's achievements and strengths, as well as supporting them through the challenges of their journey. Thrive Services adopts a 'no wrong door' policy, where we believe all individuals should be supported to access services that are right for them. We ensure that everyone (no matter who they are or where they come from) is met with respect, dignity and a consistent practice approach.

Thrive Services has a longstanding history of local community support and engagement, and we continue to maintain strong and meaningful relationships with people in our community. Our staff and volunteers adhere to a Workplace Code of Conduct and Behaviour which ensures we treat members of the public, our colleagues and clients with respect, fairness, and consistency. Our team members are expected to be courteous and sensitive to the needs of others and provide all necessary and appropriate assistance as is practicable. We follow several established policies, code and procedures which preserve client rights, decision making and choice. These procedures are reinforced in legislation, regulation, and accreditation standards.”

Our Story

Thrive Services has been supporting families for over 45 years, adapting to the changing needs of the local community, maintaining a focus on helping families thrive during times of change and transition.

Blue Mountains Family support Service Inc. was officially established on December 31, 1978. In 2016, Lithgow Family Support Service and Blue Mountains Family Support Service unified under the name 'Thrive Services' to provide more opportunities to families in need. We now operate offices in both Katoomba and Lithgow, providing accessible support to families across these regions.

 

In 2024 the Thrive team and Board came together to develop a new strategic plan which clearly outlines our hopes and plans for Thrive Services and our community for the next 5 years.
